*BMRH Weekly Recaps may contain material that may be considered offensive, controversial, or triggering to some hockey players. Opening Night
We begin our 45th Anniversary with 3 very entertaining games, and although the weather wasn't the greatest with the winds and fog rolling in, the Roller Hockey Gods held off the rain just enough for us to witness one 2-goal game, and two 1-goal games!
Jets 8 - Blackhawks 6
The Jets jumped out to an early 5-0 lead but their struggles with the good ol 3-pass rule allowed for the Hawks to come striking back with 3 unanswered goals to end the 1st half. The Jets popped in 2 more to start the 2nd half as Sam Stawinski finished the evening with 5 goals and 1 assist. Jasper Aykaz recorded 2 assists, and Jase Kavanagh finished with 1 goal and an assist. The Day Family had an evening for the Hawks as Caden Day recorded a hat trick and Dylan Day scored as well. Ethan Banks earned the victory in goal for the Jets.
Stars 4 - Kings 3
Game 2 of the evening was an absolute chess match as the score went back and forth all night long. The game was either tied, or at a 1-goal deficit throughout it's entirety. James Esposito earned the victory for the Stars in net but his counterpart, Sean Hoefenkrieg also made spectacular saves all game long. This was a great matchup! Domenico Cusumano recorded 2 goals, and Peyton Paul finished with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) as well for the Stars. For the Kings, Paul Raimondi led the way with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).
Bruins 7 - Devils 6
This may go down as the foggiest game ever at BMRH. By the 2nd half the winds, and fog were rolling through but the battle continued between these two teams. Anthony Catanzarita scored twice, Luke Padula finished with a goal and an assist, and Jake Passarella scored late in the 2nd half for the Devs as they fell just short of sending this one to OT. The B's Donovan Butler scored 4 times, while both Matthew Laico (1 goal, 1 assist), and Joseph Adamo (1 goal, 1 assist) recorded 2 points a piece. Zajin Ramirez earned the first victory of the season in goal.
Sharks 7 - Predators 6 SO
We started off day number 2 of our spring season with this special treat as the Sharks edged out the Preds in an exciting shootout victory. It was the Sharks who had a nice 3-goal lead half-way through the 2nd half but the Preds didn't give up, and fought all the way back. Jack Menelly scored 4 times while Matthew Foresta added 3 assists that capped off the late 2nd half push. But in the end, Nicholas Dempsey stopped all 3 shootout attempts and Lucas Folchetti-Puglin recorded his 4th point of the night (2 goals, 2 assists) as the shootout winner gave the Sharks the dub.
Flyers 14 - Panthers 8
The Panthers were a bit short-handed on the evening but they gave it there all again the Flyers. Jake Seidman recorded all of the Panthers points (6 goals, 1 assist), while Joseph Taglia added 2 goals. Shoutout to Justin Primrose for being a great teammate and stepping up to play goaltender.
