WEEK 10 RECAP
*BMRH Weekly Recaps may contain material that may be considered offensive, controversial, or triggering to some hockey players. We write things such as "pass the puck!" or "where's the defense?!" in hopes our teams never take it personally. Our recaps are a fun way to display scores from around the league and showcase some of the key performances that occurred throughout the week. Our authors have fun creating this content, and you should too. No animals are hurt nor hockey sticks were are broken when creating these recaps. Apologies in advance for any potential typos, after all, this is being edited by a hockey players...
Sophomore Division SEMIfinals
Flyers 15 - Panthers 10
Lucas Senicola (5 goals, 1 assist), and Brayden Padula (3 goals, 1 assist) led the Flyers scoring attack as they move on to the final round. Nicholas Macko earned the W in goal for the Flyers. The short-handed Panthers team fought hard all game long as Jake Seidman recorded 9 points (5 goals, 4 assists), and Logan Masluaskas, who recorded 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists). Unfortunately, their season comes to an end but we'd like to give a very special shoutout to Ella Kopcyznski. Ella is a travel ice hockey player who joined us for the first time this season. Ella has no fear and suited up to play goalie for half of the Panthers season. Way to stand up to the boys, Ella. We hope you had fun!
Sophomore Division SEMIfinals
Stars 5 - Canucks 3
In what was one of the most entertaining Sophomore Division Games of the Year, the Stars took home the win and are moving on. James Esposito earned the win in goal while Peyton Paul scored 4 times to lead the Stars. Benjamin Buznik recorded a hat trick in the loss as the Canucks season comes to an end.
Junior Division SEMIFINALS
Lightning 11 - Devils 2
After the Devils defeated the Lightning in the 1st round of the double-elimination tournament, the Bolts seeked their revenge, and boy did they get it. Eric Weltner had a monster game between the pipes shutting down the Devils scoring attack. Jack Purcell recorded 7 points (5 goals, 2 assists), and Hunter Paul scored, and added 5 assists to take home the dub. The Devils Noah Corcoran, and Anthony Menechino were the goal scorers as their season comes to an end.
Freshman Division Championship Game 3
Jets 12 - Ducks 7
After losing in Game 1, the Jets fought off adversity, and won the next two games to become this season's champs! Ethan Banks kept the Ducks scoring attack off the board and earned his 3rd playoff win in goal this season. Lukas Aykaz, once again, led the Jets in scoring as he finished with 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists). This season's MVP, Sam Stawinski recorded a hat trick and 2 assists, while Jase Kavanagh also recorded a hat trick, and an assist. Landon Gallagher was a force at defense and brought some offense to Game 3 as he recorded 1 goal, and two assists. Matteo Tseretopoulos recorded a hat trick in the loss.
We wanted to recap what President Dave Manara stated when handing out the awards as this truly was one of the best Championship Series we have in the division and all teams competed their hearts out in the Freshman Division as these games were extremely entertaining.
JUNIOR Division FINALS
Bruins 12 - Lightning 8
As we learned earlier in the week, it's tough to win games when you're playing short-handed. The Lightning were but their effort was amazing and they battled, in the heat, to the final buzzer. Hunter Paul recorded 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists), and Christopher Keane finished with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists). For the B's, MVP Donovan Butler was held to only 3 points (1 goals, 2 assists) but James Pelini led the way recording 7 (3 goals, 4 assists) on the evening. Joseph Adamo scored twice and added two assists while Zajin Ramirez earned the big W in goal. The Bruins are champions!
Eric Weltner, James Pelini, and Hunter Paul each played in their final game at BMRH. Eric joined us a few seasons ago but both James and Hunter started playing as little kids. While James left for a few seasons and came back, Hunter has been a BMRH-Lifer. We will miss each and everyone of these guys, wish them all the best, and of course thanks for all the memories - we hope they last a lifetime!
